Flower Power: The 3D Floral Trend in Bridal Continues
For several seasons now, we’ve been seeing a strong trend towards 3D florals on all things bridal. Princess gowns bedecked in tulle blooms, diaphanous veils adorned with silk petals, and chic cropped blouses with playful flowers are just a few ways this trend is exhibited, and we see no signs of it fading anytime soon.
Here are a few of our favorites from our own collection at Celeste New York and some from recent runway shows that have us swooning!
Our Aria veil is feminine and ethereal with its silk petals in shades of blush and ivory. A veritable meadow of silk organza blooms gather on the hem and flutter with each step. This veil would be at home in a garden wedding as much as it would in a more cosmopolitan setting.
Light and airy, our Daisy veil is appliquéd with a delicate border of blooms. It’s a whimsical way to wear the 3D floral trend, and it pairs beautifully with clean or embellished gowns.
The 2020 Bridal collections were a vision of tulle and florals, and Marchesa never disappoints when it comes to the ultimate in show-stopping bridal looks. They focused on gorgeous embellishments such as beaded embroideries and lush 3D flowers that exude pure romance.
At Vera Wang, soft pastels made an appearance, concocted into frothy tulle gowns with unexpected shapes and draping. This one in a moody shade of green is particularly elegant. Her approach to the 3D floral trend is to pin lavish flowers to the hip and the shoulder and unexpected blossoms cluster at the hemline. The details make it a perfect choice for the minimal bride who wants florals, but doesn’t want to wear them head to toe.
Speaking of green, at Monique Lhuillier, hints of botanical hues showed up in several styles. In the gown pictured here, delicate 3D flowers and vines embellish the bodice, trailing onto the tulle skirt. It feels very now with its high-low hem, keeping it from being too sweet and giving it the right amount of cool.
At Viktor & Rolf, draped bodices and cascading skirts feel modern and architectural when paired with oversized blooms. A luscious satin rose adorns this column silhouette. Though this collection was short on the usual pleated tulle details, it was still chock full of stunning shapes and embellishments.
Flower crowns prevailed at Naeem Khan, linking the richly embroidered 3D florals of the gowns to the accessories. Plunging necklines and soft A-line silhouettes were the perfect canvas for the house’s ornate and luxurious details.
What do you think? Is the 3D floral trend one that you’d wear on your wedding day?
